Stimulating Green Energy (Technology Review)

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Can we stimulate the economy and create a sound green-energy policy at the same time? Of course. In fact, it’s not possible to have a sustained economic recovery that isn’t green.

Our entire economic system is unsustainable. It’s a global Ponzi scheme: investors (i.e., current generations) are paying themselves (i.e., you and me) by taking from future generations. To perpetuate the high returns that the rich countries in particular have been achieving in recent decades, we have been taking an ever greater amount of nonrenewable energy resources, especially hydrocarbons;…

THE HEAT IS ON (Randy Cohen via Yahoo! News)

Monday, April 20th, 2009

I’m the proud owner of a new, highly efficient, green condominium. However, this winter I noticed something strange. If I turn off my furnace, my apartment stays warm even in subzero temperatures because of ambient heat coming through the walls and ceiling of my neighbors. Is it ethical to keep the furnace off? It seems a little like stealing to me. — T. Hollister, Chicago

Speak Out: With a little energy, you can save a bundle (York County Coast Star)

Friday, April 10th, 2009

With a little effort, the rewards can be significant. Very simply put, you should take the time to shop around for your heating oil and propane needs. You may be thinking, the timing of this subject would be better leading into the winter when energy usage will be high. Not necessarily so, as many energy providers know, familiarity (with your energy supplier) gives consumers a comfortable feeling and they are unlikely to change something as important as heating their homes just to save a few dollars…

Benefits of Commercial Security Window Film

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

If you are a resident of the south, there are hurricane seasons and storms that can get pretty rough. When your business is protected by Commercial Security Window Film , the windows are not going to shatter on impact. From flying debris to wind driven rain the chances of your windows getting broken can be quite high.

In the northern areas of the country the danger of ice can put your windows at risk. Having a Commercial Security Window Film is a good idea for protecting your business. The glass does not shatter leaving your business open to the elements or those who may enter to see what you have of value.

Instead of shattering it is held together by the window film. This makes it virtually impossible to penetrate because the sturdiness of the Commercial Security Window Film will keep it from breaking apart. For plate glass windows or doors made of glass the advantages of using window film will provide the peace of mind you need.

Commercial Window Film – It Really Does Help

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

It is 98 degrees outside and the sun is blazing. Watching everyone try to get out of the heat as quickly as possible, you are cool and comfortable inside. The secret is not having the air conditioning cranked down as low as possible. It is the Commercial Window Film you had installed on your windows. People are surprised at how much heat this film can block from entering through their windows.

Up to 77% of the wilting heat that enters through windows can be blocked by Commercial Window Film. Most businesses have windows that are larger than regular home windows. With more space for heat to enter, the building heats up in no time and the air conditioning is fighting a losing battle. It runs constantly but the temperature does not get cooler until the sun goes down. By this time, your business is closed and the cool air you needed in the daylight hours did not happen.

Most businesses are brick buildings and they are famous for soaking up the heat when it is hot and the opposite in the winter. By installing Commercial Window Film, you will put a stop to this cycle. The film will block the heat in the summer and use it to your advantage during the icy days of winter.
