Texas – ticket Window Tint?

I have the windows of my car (Nissan 240SX) staining (10% in all windows) when I lived in Washington state about a year or so ago, and moved to Texas, Georgetown (just outside of Austin) about 6-7 months earlier. Well, today I stopped by a patrol the freeway and was given a ticket for window tint be 9% when the legal limit is 35% (I had no idea what the legal limit is until he was arrested today). My question is this: Is there any way to get this ticket dropped? "I can remove the dye and request a court date? Do I have to remove all the dye or only the front windows? Also, any idea if this bill is to do with Motor (Progressive) as it is not a traffic violation? Thanks for any information

The ticket window tint will not affect your insurance in any way what so ever. The window tinting law only applies to the windshield, rear window, and the two front windows. As long as you have left and right side mirrors, you can have any amount of color you want in the back window. No so you can get the ticket dropped. I will say it's a little strange that, indeed, an infringement on it though. As most people are ignorant of law, then usually only give a warning. However, not knowing the law is no excuse for you to fall. The person must take issue with the person who is dying your window.
