A Brief Look on Tendonitis
Sunday, July 31st, 2011 Have you ever felt a tearing pain in your muscles? You must be careful sometimes, it might already be a “tendonitis” or medically known as “tendinitis”. It is an inflammation of tendons in our body. Source: Tendonitis Treatment
Just to do a bit of a review, tendons is the part of the muscular skeletal system that connects the muscles to the bones for the bones to be able to move without colliding to each other and causing severe pain. If the tendons are over-stretched or placed to a point where blood cannot circulate properly then this can cause tendonitis.
If this is ignored, it will worsen the inflammation on the tendons which may need a surgery to heal it.
There are several ways that people can experience tendonitis. It can be because of a new sport that you’ve been practicing or new exercise that you’ve been taking or a sudden jolt when you are awaken by the noise of your cat. This means that tendonitis is acquired by movements which are sudden and unfamiliar to our bodies’ movement routine. So it is best to warm up your muscles first before engaging to a new or heavy phycial activity. More about Tendonitis at Posterior Tibial Tendonitis
Normally, the tendons that are easily affected by tendonitis is the Achilles tendon, the rotator cuff, and the patellar tendons. These are the ones that are very vulnerable and exposed when doing new activities.
It’s easy to cure a tendonitis as long as it is on it’s first phase (just right after the activity). There are non-steroid inflammatory drugs that you can take to reduce the swelling or place an ice bag on the affected area. Resting the affected part of your body is also advisable. But always remember that prevention is better than cure, so it is important to warmp up your body before doing any activity.
