Your Questions About Window Tint

January 11th, 2012

Jenny asks…

does anyone have experience fighting a fix it ticket for a window tint?

I was in the carpool lane and got pullled over. The officer informed me he was checking passengers in the carpool lane and then proceeded to ticket me for my window tint, which he felt was too dark. Is there any way to fight this? I really don’t have the time (or money) to deal with this right now. Seems petty when there are people out there commiting real crimes!

mariok answers:

There are devices readily available that will determine the amount of tint that your vehicle has. Sure you can fight anything charged against you but expect to get fought back. If the court determines that the tint needs to be removed expect a large bill. To remove tint film is far more labor intensive than installing.

Maria asks…

How much does a window tint job cost?

I’m wanting to tint my windows for my 08 dodge avenger. What is a good estimate on how much it will cost to put on?

mariok answers:

$175

Laura asks…

How do i remove window tint w/o damaging the rear window defrosters?

i did my other windows with a spray bottle and a razor blade
but if it do that with the rear window it would take time and don’t want to damage the rear window defrosters
any tips?
and please don’t say “take it to a professional window tint company” because i just want to remove the tint and thats it
would it help if i use hot water instead of cold?
and i do have a heat gun but don’t really want to use it unless i have to

mariok answers:

Take it to a professional window tint company. Otherwise you’re going to remove more than just the tint.

Sandra asks…

Can i use regular window tint, to tint my tail lights?

I was wondering if i can use regular window tint, to tint my tail lights??

mariok answers:

Ignore that comment. It looks great. Especially if you have a black car/truck or a dark colored car (red etc). And the best part is that it’s legal. My friend has a dodge all black and he put black tint on his lights and it looks great. Just make sure you do it professional quality.

He used limo tint on his on lights and they still show red so its legal as can be. But if you want to be a rogue like him, tint the front headlights too. They really dont show up less bright and they look great

Richard asks…

how do you remove window tint residue?

I removed the window tint from my rear windscreen, however, it has left a sort of cloudy residue. It is not sticky but it doesn’t come off.

mariok answers:

Sounds like the window seal is gone, moisture has gotten in which gives the cloudy appearance, unfortunately you will need to replace the glass.

Your Questions About Car Window Film

January 10th, 2012

Mark asks…

If my camera got “stolen” out of a car and was in my “friends” friend car…is it my fault?

She says her attorney says its not their fault it was stolen from the car…but the persons car(lets call him matt), Matts had his stereo and ipod stolen before. I strongly believe my camera was stolen by my FRIEND! Is it my fault it was stolen from the car, or,because i put it in their car, do they take responsibility for it? I’ve already spoke to detectives and police…we filed a report .

(this is the story…of what happened…)So i went to a concert called warped tour and i was trying to sneak my prosessional camera in and they didnt allow it so I asked my friend Nichole if I could put the camera in her friends car and get it before the concert ended.
She said sure so I put it in the car .
At the end of the concert I found nichole(now, she lives 50 minutes to a hour from me) and she said that her friends left without her and they had my camera.
i freaked out, but asked her to ship it to me and she said she would have her mom because when she was “touring with all time low”.

she said her mom sent it to be there in 2-3 days, it never came. i had texted her many times for the tracking number and she finally gave it to me on thursday.
i called ups and fedex and both companies said nothing was being shipped to my house.
i said to nichole”you know i can sue you for stealing” and she said “its not my fault fedex lost it”

my friend richard said his friend told him nichole got a nikon d40 from alex from all time low(which i don’t believe. thats my nikon d40!)
and i called nichole and she was like
“sam i would never steal from you you’re my friend and nikons suck leslie(the girl whos car i left my camrea in) has one and she says they suck”

then, Nichole says to me”i told you before in a text message that the camera got stolen out of my friends car and i was covering for him because he thought he could get in legal trouble for it; AFTER speaking to an attorney, he can’t. SOOOO i told you the truth; it’s gone and NONE of us can do anything about it just like none of us can get back him IPOD or Stereo system either.”

the she said”
No, i don’t take you for an idiot. I lied to cover for a friend; his car does have damage his back window was smashed open. Theres nothing that can be done about it now, i didn’t steal your camera. I wouldn’t. I sold my canon and then the camera i’ve been using is a poloriod camera idk exactly what it’s called but its a poloriod digital and i’m just really good at photoshop. AND no according to the attorney the responsibilty of the camera is still yours; wheither its in his car or not in the end; just like when my film camera was stolen out of davids..”
————————————–

if you can help me, and want to communicate about this, please message meon myspace or AIM(samkelliexxx)

myspace.com/samkelliexxx

I won’t forget it, the camera was 500$, and the lens itself i brought was 155$.

It wasnt just a crappy little 100$ camera that i can buy with my next paycheck.
+my dad went to the police/detectives and showed them messages she had sent me and what not…she said in one of the mesages she went to an attorney, so the police/detectives said she knew she did something wrong to speak to a detective

i said to her:

this entire story makes no sense. first you lied about your mom shipping it. then you lied and gave me a fake tracking number. then you lied saying you sent it and i’m pretty sure you promise you sent it. then i heard from richard that his friend said you got a nikon d40. then you’re like “he has no idea what hes talking about” and all of its coming up to…if Matt had his iPod stolen, and stereo system , wouldn’t he
1. lock his car door.
2. bring my camera inside if he lived in a bad neighborhood or what not.

the camera was given to you and them…put in his car, which locks, because i had the keys to put it in there, and it locked after i pressed lock. so if hes had stuff stolen before…he would lock the door…and if it was stolen
(continuing to what i said toher)

before…he would lock the door…and if it was stolen the windows, or car , would have been broken into …therefore resulting in some sort of damage, at least i believe so. you guys were given responsibility of the camera when i asked if it was okay to put it in the car .

overall, this entire story seems to be such a lie. not to mention you posted a bulletin about selling a nikon coolpix(which, i’ve had one, they take semi-crappy pictures so obviously your new ones aren’t taken with that) and a canon 40d for your moms surgery…none of this makes sense Nichole, or is believable. you wanted to buy my camera from me before and honestly, i’m starting to believe you thought “hey i have it for for free.”
and people there is no need to be rude about this. i’m 15. i don’t know how to explain things, and i don’t know what to do..jesus.

mariok answers:

You can file a criminal charge of theft against the suspect if you have evidence.

James asks…

What can I do to get my cat featured in a documentary?

Like a cat special on national geographic or animal planet. She doesn’t have to be the main cat. I would like for her to be filmed while she’s sitting in the window observing cars.

mariok answers:

Youtube.

Paul asks…

What is the name of this film ? :) ?

I watched this when i was young so it could be 7+ years old, i can only remember three scenes which are: A train goes past a person and at every window there are black silhouettes pressed up staring out, also, a car goes past and almost hits them with the silhouettes pressing against the windows of the car. The last scene is in some kind of asylum, im pretty sure there where cages for walls with an old women clinging inside of one.

I know this isn’t much to go on but thanks a lot if anybody knows.

mariok answers:

Kind of reminds me of Jacob’s Ladder.

Your Questions About Home Window Film

January 10th, 2012

Thomas asks…

how well do you know Home Alone 2?

I love this little film but what I love best in that film is when Kevin is looking out the window and it is night time and he is sad I believe (cannae remember) and a song is playing in the background. I can’t remember exactly but I think that it is a choir. I absolutely love that song and was wondering the name of the song and whom sings it.

mariok answers:

John asks…

What are my options for a residential one-way see through film?

My situation:
I live on the top floor of an apartment building which fortunately (and unfortunately) has 9 bay windows, plus a huge kitchen window that makes me feel I’m on display. At night, even with the blinds down, people can see me and my silhouette very clearly from their homes. I’m looking for a way to prevent their being able to see in, my ability to still see the city landscape clearly (and the little twinkly lights) and hopefully still retain heat.

Elements I’m looking for:
1. You can’t see in — works more especially at night (since that’s when I’m home)
2. Clear view out
3. Retain sunlight streaming (or close to it)
4. Easy to apply – by film, and I can take off when I move out (they might also let me just leave it if it’s a great product).

Look:
I don’t want it to be dark at all and would like it as sunny in my room as possible.

Alternatives:
Is there a pain like this?
Are there curtains that act like “frosted glass” that people can’t really see inside? — I’ve seen “sheer” curtains but those aren’t really enough. The “frosted glass” is great, but I can’t have that as a permanent on my window esp when I’m working and want to see the landscape.

Thanks for all your help in advance! :)

mariok answers:

Don’t know if this helps or not. I remember an episode of CSI: MIAMI where there was a nightclub with FROSTED ELECTRIC GLASS in it’s private rooms. The glass was clear until they flipped a light switch, turning the clear glass into a solid frosted glass…………

There’s a company called smartglassinternational.com that states

“Controlling the glass is achieved by simply flipping an electrical switch. When the glass is switched on a film found between the two layers of glass reacts to the electric current, creating a reaction that allows light to pass through the glass. When the switch is turned off, the reaction has a reversed effect and the light ceases to pass through.”

I don’t know about the cost. Just thought I would throw in my “two cents” worth…..

Chris asks…

I wan to be part of the film industry?

I take a creative writing class at my highschool. And I want to be part of the film industry when im older. I want to be either a film editor, or a writer
im going to share one of my stories and can you plz tell me if i have potential in “creating movies”? idk what exactly that job is called, but here it goes..

Quandary

The rain scratched down my face, as I squinted my eyes to see how long this road really was. My hood was soaked, so there was no point of wearing it anymore. My blonde hair was also ruined from the rain. Great. My view was a blur, the sharp, heavy rain overwhelming me with every step I took.
I was in the middle of nowhere.
There was no sign of life.
The trees seem to cower away from the road, and the dark endless puddles seemed to swallow it up.
I had no idea how far I had been walking, but my shoes were dead and heavy. My socks felt like a sponge every time I stepped, absorbing the water, and then slowly releasing it when I hardly lifted my foot up…
It was getting dark, the moon leaning over the dark ominous clouds. But for some reason, I wasn’t scared.
3 hours later, around 9:30 PM, I saw a light. The light came closer and closer to me, blinding me because I hadn’t seen light in a long time.
“Yes, a car, finally.” I said to myself.
The engine coughed and spat, and the windshield wipers were violently swiping.
This could be my only chance. I thought. If I let this car roll by me, I don’t know if I’d ever make it back home. I’ll be under the mushy ground if I don’t.
So I did something I would probably regret. I took my thumb and slowly rose it to the sky. “Please pull over, please pull over,” I said repeatedly. I jumped in place, trying to keep my nerves away.
The car slowed , and the window rolled down.
I scrutinized my eyes to get a look at the driver. All I could see was his or her’s hands, clenched tightly around the wheel, pale and vieny. I noticed no rings on the finger, and that brought my guard up. But my conscious kept saying “Get in.” I hesitated as I leaned toward the window.
“Can I hop in?” my voice shook.
The locks of the car shot up, making me jump a bit.
I stood there for a minute, one leg towards the car and one leg away from it. I wiped my forehead and took a deep breath. I slammed the door, and the car started inching forward.
“Where to?” the stranger said quietly.
It was a man.
His voice was husky, sounding curious at the same time. He sounded like he was in his late 40‘s.
I cleared my throat and said “38 river street.”
He nodded and said almost to himself. “I know where that is.”
I blinked twice, and then scanned the car with my eyes.
It seemed like a typical car, empty water bottles, McDonald’s bag, and coffee cup lying on the floor near my sneakers. I looked towards the rearview mirror, noticing a poloroid of a little girl hanging on a string that wrapped around it. The girl was adorable, with blonde hair that looked like curly rays of sun. She looked like your typical little sunshine, but there was something more to her. Her eyes were a deep green, with specks of blue floating on the surface. Her teeth were like little pearls, and her little hands were on either side of her chubby cheeks. She looked like a little angel. She sort of looked like me in a way.
“Who’s she?” I bravely asked, pointing a limp finger to it.
There was a pause, and then he answered quickly “My little girl.”
“She’s beautiful.” I said, smiling a bit.
He didn’t answer, so I decided to just shut up.

2 hours later, I opened my eyes. I looked around me, gaining my senses.
I was in my bed. I rubbed my eyes and stiffly stretched as I got up.
11: 45. The clock read.
Something was bothering me, and I didn’t know what.
I walked down the hallway and trotted down the stairs.
The whole house was dark. The hidden moon was the only light. It shined down in the TV room to the left of me.
I took a right and went into the dining room.
“Mom? Joe?”
No answer. Only the grandfather clock clucking.
I opened the door to the kitchen and light flew towards me.

There was my mom. She was sitting cross legged, sipping a cup of coffee, talking quietly to someone.
It wasn’t my step dad. I had never seen this man in my life.
“Mom?” I said.
She snapped her head toward me.
“Katie, You’re awake! Go back to bed, it’s very late. I’ll talk to you in the morning.”
I ignored her, walking into the kitchen carefully.

I never took my eyes off the man. I slowly said to my mom, “Who is this? Where’s Joe?”
My mom sighed, looking at the time, and then at me.
“Alright, I might as well tell you now.”
“Tell me what?” I cocked my head.
She took a deep breath and said. “Kate, this man saved your life tonight”
I took a long pause, pulling my eyebrows together. “Mom, I was in bed —-”
She shook her head and closed her eyes. “No. You weren’t. Your friend Lisa’s mom called me around 430 PM today. She said you and Lisa got in a huge fight and you left

mariok answers:

It’s good writing. But to be part of the film industry, you have to be able to turn your written story into a formatted film script. You need camera shots, stage directions, lighting information, dialogue, emotions, etc.

Also, to really break into it, it helps if you know how to use a camera and edit things, so I suggest taking a Film major in college.

Good luck!

Logitech x-530 surround sound not working on windows xp home edition?

I recently bought some logitech x-530 speakers. When i go to the speaker test, all of the speaker work independently. However, i am not getting true surround sound from my speakers. But when watching a film etc., all that is happening is that the rear speakers are playing the same sound as the front but possibly slightly quieter.
Nothing is muted under the volume control, the speaker settings are set to 5.1 surround sound, im sure all of the connections are fine, I’ve set the DVDs to play in 5.1 surorund. It still doesn’t work. I have tried everything and anything i can think of. Realtek Ac’97 audio is the soundcard i have installed at the moment (apparently.) If there’s anything you need to ask to be able to diagnose the problem , please get in contact.

mariok answers:

Have a look at your DVD playback software and make sure that it’s not set to stereo.

Hope this helps.

Steven asks…

Which short film plot is better?

I have two ideas for a short film I am going to enter into some competitions but I don’t know which one would be better.

They are both are centered around a suicidal guy suffering from PTSD.

In the first one we open with a shot of a little girl playing her guitar on the front porch of a house. While the music is still playing we see a middle aged man putting a bullet into a .38 Special, spinning the cylinder, and putting the gun to his temple. He squeezes the trigger, and nothing happens. His phone vibrates indicating a text message. It is from his daughter, and it reads “meet me outside”. Cut to him standing on the porch. We can still hear her play the guitar, and we see her sitting at the far end on the porch swing, but he cannot see her. Discouraged, he looks at his phone again, but the message is gone. He turns and goes inside. When he walks downstairs again he sees the place is completely trashed. Thinking there is an intruder, he proceeds to put all the bullets in the pistol and search the house. When he returns to the room it is normal again. He starts to freak out and puts the gun to his head again. He then has a flashback of when he came home after work one day, and he heard a noise coming from the closet. He ignorantly shoots the closet, and when he opens it up, he sees his daughter dead inside. He screams and pulls the trigger. Dolly shot of him laying on the floor. The camera finally gets to his phone, which is vibrating with the same message as before. Cut to porch again, he can see his daughter again. They exchange brief words, and she tells him to follow her, and they both walk away.

This one is weird but I think it would make a good horror/thriller.

The other one is not as weird, shorter, and it has a nice twist at the end.

Again the man puts the gun to his head at the beginning, pulls the trigger but does not die. He calls his counselor but he does not answer. He leaves an urgent voice mail, then looks out the window . He then has the flashback of him killing his daughter, freaks out, puts the gun to his head, but suddenly he is shot in the back. He is shot multiple times, and as he falls we see a figure in a SKI mask behind him. The masked man proceeds to take the TV and anything else he can grab. This is all seen from the main character’s perspective. He reaches for his pistol, but a foot steps on his hand. He looks up and takes a foot to the face. End credits.

So which one should I do guys? Or should I scrap them both? If the answer to the latter question is yes, then what should I do instead? Thanks for the advice!

mariok answers:

I like the first one better because the plot is more involved. It gives you insight to the main character’s mindset. The second one is good, but kind of seems to drift into another plot, with this robber or whoever breaking in and shooting him. Perhaps I am missing the twist in the second one. (that someone is ACTUALLY breaking in this time?) I don’t know, but that is what I am feeling about the two.

Your Questions About Car Window Tinting

Sandra asks…

How to remove car window tint?

the tint is ruined and very hard to see out of. we removed a section with a razor blade, but it took forever.

mariok answers:

Alright, what you need to do is gather these tools:
4 q-tips
vaseline
razor blade
febreeze
diet coke

1) apply the vaseline all over your windows
2) apply the four q-tips on the least visible portion, where you cant see
3) next, shave/razor all of the vaseline off of your window, 3 times. DO NOT ONLY DO THIS ONCE! CRUCIAL STEP!
4) febreeze your car, it probs is disgusting, idk just guessing.
5) drink some diet coke, you’ve worked hard.

Daniel asks…

I want to know where is the best place to learn how to tint windows. possibly a school. I want to take a course. I live in South Carolina so anywhere close to there would be the best. I can’t find anything online.

mariok answers:

The school of hard knocks hear. You just have to do a window or two and if you want it you can learn it!

Sharon asks…

Does distilled water or tap water matter when tinting car windows?

I also use 20% baby shampoo and 80%water. For some reason my tint doesn’t stick to the window

Paul asks…

Does tinting your car windows really help reduce heat?

I live in Las Vegas and its over 100 all the time. I want to know if tinting my windows will really help reduce how hot it gets inside of my car .

mariok answers:

A good window film can reduce the amount of heat filtering into your car by nearly 80%. Obviously if the car is sitting in a parking lot it will just take longer to get hot inside, but on a daily basis you will likely run the A/C less. .the film will cut 99.9% of the UV that is a factor in skin cancer, etc.
Read this information on the Formulaone website for details on benefits of window film at http://www.formulaone.com
Window film is a no brainer for that climate.

Charles asks…

How much would it cost to get one car window re-tinted?

The tint on my window began to bubble so i peeled it off totally and gave it a thorough clean, i was just wondering if anyone had a rough estimate on how much it would cost for a new tinting sheet just for a window on a small sedan.

thnaks kindly
also can you do it while the car window is in the bracket or do you have to take it out?
walmart? never heard of it

mariok answers:

You can buy a piece of window film from a tint shop that is about 3 foot long, or just a little longer than your window. Make sure it covers side to side and top to bottom. Place the film, with the liner side facing you, on the outside of the window. The bottom edge of the film needs to rest on the window seal. Use a razor knife to cut the right and left sides of the film to the exact measurements of the window seal sides. Pull up the bottom of the film off the window and reach in to bump down the window with the power window switch about 4 inches. Using a knife, run the blade atop the window edge to cut the film to the exact curvature of the upper window glass. Take off the film and finish any cut lines that you were not able to cut all the way while it was on the door. If you’ve done it right, what you should have is a piece of film cut to look exactly like your door glass. Now simply spray the clean window with soapy water and apply the tint while the window is still cracked open, squeegee the film till the water is removed, then roll up the window and tint the bottom half of the glass, squeegee it again to remove all water bubbles.

If this sounds hard, its because it is, have a tint shop re tint it for you for around $15-20 if you are afraid to mess it up.

Ken asks…

what are the chances of a cop pulling you over for 20% window tint in texas?

Im getting 5% in every window except the driver sides and the windshield. For the driver side windows im thinking about getting 20% window tint, and yes i know its illegal, but what are the chances of being pulled over for 20%??

also would 20% even be dark enough to give you some privacy?

mariok answers:

From TDPS
# Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, must have a light transmittance value of 25% or more.

# Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, must have a luminous reflectance value of 25% or less.

So how is it illegal?

Your Questions About Home Window Tinting Lowes

January 8th, 2012

William asks…

Have illegals declared outright war on America ????

Guatemalans in the Boston area are seeing spies infiltrating factories, buses with tinted windows taking away unidentifiable co-workers, and men with guns grabbing their neighbors. For these survivors of state violence, it’s a traumatic reminder of the very thing they thought they had left behind. Twenty-six-year-old Julia, arrested in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid, said, “If they are taking children away and everything, then for me, that’s a second war.” She told her story in interviews with Professors Brinton Lykes and Dan Kanstroom of Boston College’s Post-Deportation Human Rights Project. Thirteen of the fifteen Guatemalans in the town of Chimaltenango who had organized a group on behalf of loved ones picked up by ICE in the US could not locate them. These Guatemalans, in meetings with Lykes and Kanstroom, also spontaneously brought up the decades-long civil war that ended in 1996, during which 200,000 were killed and thousands vanished. A woman who lost her son and husband in the war and who was desperate to find her grandson asked the two professors, “Are they being disappeared?”

The US government is not sending out death squads. But the Guatemalans are onto something. According to an unnamed ICE official responding to questions sent by e-mail, ICE agents regularly impersonate civilians and rely on other tricks, some of which are illegal, in order to arrest longtime US residents who have no criminal history. I found incidents in which ICE agents posed as OSHA inspectors, insurance agents and religious workers. The effect is to corrode trust in the government, neighbors–and even Mormons.

Last summer, a woman came to the office of Marina Lowe, an ACLU attorney in Salt Lake City, saying she believed that ICE agents dressing as Mormon missionaries had been to her house. Lowe’s client noticed that the missionaries lacked the black name-tags she’d always seen them wear, and behaved in other ways inconsistent with missionary protocol, including entering her home while her husband was absent. After she confirmed that he lived there, they left. The next day, ICE agents arrived and arrested her husband.

They should be able to use every means available to them to stop what is going on. Illegal is always illegal. Let them dress or do whatever will do the trick

mariok answers:

I believe so and I also agree that they should use any means possible to catch illegals. It is time our laws be enforced and these lawbreakers rounded up.

Your Questions About Car Window Tinting

January 7th, 2012

Donald asks…

Preventing Car window tint from peeling?

When I was loading up my car the other day I accidentally nicked the window tint and cut off a small chunk (about 1 square inch). How can I prevent this minor cut from spreading? Can I just use a small piece of scotch tape?

mariok answers:

Go with Elmers Glue clear. .! It works.

Ruth asks…

Window tinting tips for a 2006 Chevy Impala? I recently got my car and it lacks window tinting…?

This is my first car so Im not sure what to look for in quality window tinting

Any tips would be appreciated…

Thanks!

mariok answers:

Shoulda got factory…Don’t let your brother in law try to do it..ask the dealer where to go for it. Check with inspection people.. They have a tester and can ticket you if its too dark….here in VA lots of peeps get it done in Tenn. And it fails here.

Mary asks…

I am getting my car windows tinted. Should I tip the guy tinting the windows? ?

I am paying $300 for the tint job already

mariok answers:

You can if you want to, but it’s not common practice. It’s not like he or she is a waiter that makes less than minimum wage plus tips. This person is not expecting a tip, but if you are happy with the job, toss him a few bucks. It will make his day.

Betty asks…

Anyone know what the vinyl plastic material used on reusable car window tint is and where I can get large roll?

Trying to find a large roll of it for a project, but need industrial sized roll.
Thanks

mariok answers:

I don’t know what the “automobile” vinyl has on it that makes it stick but, you can find 54″ wide rolls of clear and tinted vinyl in several different thickness’s at your local fabric store. (Hancock Fabrics, Jo-Ann fabrics and possibly Super Wal-Marts)

Chris asks…

How can police officers determine if your car window tint is illegal?

mariok answers:

Tint meter. If an officer sees a car that has dark tint and from their experience, they believe the tint is illegal, they can stop the car and check the tint with a tint meter.

Maria asks…

How long would window tinting take on a small car?

I have a mazda 3 and jus wondering how long of would take

mariok answers:

First time?
2-3 days

State loans to aid energy savings

January 7th, 2012

It isn’t just environmentally sound to save energy. It also makes sense financially. To help finance the projects needed to reduce energy consumption and costs, manufacturers, small businesses, nonprofit groups and government agencies have access to a new source of low-interest loans.

Your Questions About Home Window Film Video

January 7th, 2012

Thomas asks…

I have only nightmares. Why?

One nightmare I had was back in November.
I had a dream that me and my ex was taking a filming class (we were broke up then. We deiced to be friends. We were better off like that. I never loved him). Jake and I decided to be partners.
After a week of week we came up with a really video, but suddenly Jake turned into Edward from ‘Twilight’ and he told me if we won demons from hell would come after me to kill me.
A party was made for the occasion of telling everyone who won. Before hand the teacher told Edward and I that we won.
Edward told me to not except the reward, but I told him I never win at anything and I didn’t care if demons came after me.
I was given a trophy and this is the part where Edward leaves.
I go home and I becomes nighttime.
I start hearing bumping nosies and I see the shadows move. I sat running and I fall down. The hallway had three small steps to my room and there was only a light that gave off a dull green glow. I reached out screaming but the demons were coming faster.
I finally regained my balance and was able to run into my room so I could call my Mommow to come and get me.
She suddenly appeared in my room sitting in my desk chair. She had a evil look on her face. She told me to hurry.
I grabbed my bag and started stuffing things in that bag.
She told me to hurry, but I was going really fast (demons are after me. I dought I’ll be going lowly)
I turned around to my closet and when I turned back my Mommow was gone. I opened my window and started screaming to come back, but her taillights faded into the midnight darkness.
While I was standing at the window the demons caught up with me and sallowed my body whole, which took me to hell.
I figured that I dreamed about Edward because I was watching a special on the Twilight movies before I fell asleep.

mariok answers:

Your waking subconscious becomes your dreaming conscious.

It is obviously trying to tell you things, screaming nightmares.

Daniel asks…

A good music editing program?

I just bought a keyboard that I plan to use to make music for my short films. I plan on having 2 open windows; 1 that is playing my video and another that is my music software. This way I can write as I watch, but my problem is I need a program to do the music part with. I don’t need much, just something I can record layer-by-layer with and will sync with a Yahmaha keyboard.. The easier to use the better. I have a PC w/ Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
I tried Audacity but I cant figure out how to connect my keyboard with the program.

mariok answers:

How much are you willing to spend?

The best basic recording/editing program that I’ve come across is Krystal. Not sure how much the full version costs, and the controls are quite complicated for someone who’s never done sound editing before. If you want to go simple you can find Audacity for free, you can layer up to 4 tracks and the features are very easy to use.

Hope this helped

Maria asks…

Do you think Disney is ‘satanic?’?

I recently watched a YouTube video that was really idiotic if nothing else, going onto say things like ‘Walt Disney was a 33rd degree Freemason’ and that Narnia The lion the witch and the wardrobe, was ‘sick’ and ‘satanic’ because of Mr. Tumnus being a faun, like the pagan god of sex, Pan. And that Mr. Tumnus’ interactions with Lucy were sick because it was very much like watching a pedophile trying to lure a young girl into his home , and that the whole scene portrays The devil trying to seduce a young girl. Never mind that Pan is actually The Greek God of Nature and that The lion the witch and the wardrobe isn’t Disney work it was written by C.S Lewis. However some things were a bit convincing, where they showed some disturbing subliminal messages that were put into the films, for example in the rescuers when they are traveling past houses, if you pause the movie and look into one window you see an actual photo of a naked women.

So my real question is, Do you think Disney is satanic? if so why? AND if not, then why? And do you think they put in allot of subliminal messaging? if so what do you think of it?

(P.S I’m really bored XD – But your answers do interest me… o-o)
Ok for those who asked here’s the link to the video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIvMNfrZ-jU&feature=related

And when I say ‘Is Disney satanic’, I meant that Walt Disney was supposedly a Satan worshiper and put in subliminal messages about Satan…

mariok answers:

The spiritual entity that has been called “satan” by religionists is really the angel Lucifer, who was one of the highest of angels. Angels are creatures of god and god, being god, cannot create something that is evil. Lucifer was a bit misguided and rebellious, but that does not equate to evil.

William asks…

Sony Handycam Mac/pc help please?

I have a sony hdr-cx110 handycam and am taking it overseas to take plenty of film. I don’t have that much memory on the card so i am taking a lenovo laptop (running windows 7) to load the videos onto to free up space. But when i get home i want to transfer it onto my imacs (running osx 10.6.8) imovie.
My problem is when i transfer the videos from the lenovo to the mac (via usb flash), the mac doesnt recognise the file (its a mpeg file).

If i didnt explain that very well please let me know, im not very good with computers :)

Thank you in advance
oh, and i also do not want to degrade the video quality at all

mariok answers:

The Sony HDR-CX110 camcorder records AVCHD compressed video into MTS or M2TS files.

Normally, you would connect the camcorder to the Mac, launch the video editor and import or capture the video. In this method, the camcorder’s processor is used to decompress the video from the compressed MTS file to an uncompressed version that the video editor can deal with. You are not doing that…

When you copied the files to the computer (does not matter if Windows, Linux, Mac OSX or other operating system) you took the camcorder and that processor out of the process flow. In order to deal with the video, it needs to be transcoded. You need to convert the video with MPEG StreamClip from www.squared5.com and Handbrake from www.handbrake.fr are both good – there are several others that can provide that conversion into a decompressed, high quality high definition h.264 MOV file type version that iMovie can deal with. These files will take lots of hard disc drive space… 60 minutes of decompressed high definition video will consume about 44 gig of computer hard disc drive space.

You explained it just fine… But just to be clear, you are not “filming” – there is no film involved. You are capturing digital video (and audio).

Good for you for trying to get the process flow working BEFORE you actually need it.

Mark asks…

Police v. Terrorists or Police = Terrorists?

Once, I was a law enforcement student. I went to college and took all the classes that a degree requires. I even worked in the civilian equivalent of a police officer. After I was injured on the job, and after 9/11, I saw some very negative changes in the police forces.

A few examples of police conduct are included, and I want your input on how this ‘protects’ and ‘serves’ America.

A teenage girl is stopped for speeding. She doesn’t have a permit to drive. The officer makes a deal with her, star in a homemade porn video of his, and he’ll let her off. He then get her and her sister into a film, and passes it around for his buddies to see.

A black man is stopped in a traffic check. He doesn’t comply fast enough, so the cop drags him out of the window , breaking his neck.

An elderly woman stops, on the wrong side of the road, to check her mail. An officer notices this and questions her. During the questioning, he pulls his OC/CS/ Pepper Spray and sprays her in the face.

Repeatedly, officers demand to enter homes without warrants, take whatever they want, and then leave, without leaving ‘receipts’ for what they take. If the homeowners resist, they are arrested for ‘obstructing justice,’ and are beaten for it.

On or off duty, in unmarked vehicles, police tail or follow people and then arrest them for becoming nervous when they notice they are being followed by a vehicle that isn’t a police vehicle. Minor during the day, but at midnight?

In court, they knowingly exaggerate about the arrest and evidence, to make the case sound bigger than the facts show. They make false charges on weapons multiply drug seizures, and add charges that never happen.

They are never ‘under oath’ in court, but the defendants are threatened that if they lie, they will be charged with perjury, a charge never placed against a police officer. Yet, the defendant is expected to lie, but the police are never suspected of this crime.

Everyone who is convicted of a crime, no matter how big or small, are considered a liar and scum. But, a police officer can do no wrong. Every cop says that every con lies and say that they didn’t do the crime. But, ever con I have met, say they broke the law, but not what the cop said they did. Now, today, every cop claims that all blacks use drugs, and all belong to gangs, but they never consider their fellow officers who abuse drugs as drug users, or that they belong to a gang, where they all wear blue uniforms and retaliate for wrongs done to them, just like a gang would do.

Do the police really think they are helping American and stand against terrorists, or are they just another gang of terrorists, with government backing? They even have superior weapons (machine guns) and training (often by US Army trainers) to combat the people they claim to protect, and not the terrorists or gangs.

What do you think? And, what (legally) should be done about it, if anything?
chensel777,

Wrong call. :)

Not a cop, but was headed that way. I know all this crap because I have seen it. And, I have called them on it, and gotten heat for it. I’m persona non grata to the police, because I dare call them dirty when they break the laws.

No links because 90% of the stuff they do never gets to the newsroom. Sometimes, someone is lucky and gets it on film, like King, and things fly. Otherwise, it is just us loners who think its wrong.

I was taught about the US Constitution, and how every American has Rights. I did not, and will not, serve this system that punishes the innocent and allows the police to run over them.

Cops are worse than terrorists; terrorists are subject to imprisonment if caught, cops aren’t.

John asks…

Why won’t my Windows Mover Maker movie work?

My friends and I recently got together and messed around and made a short film, which I downloaded to my computer to edit. I converted the mpeg video into WMV to use as both audio and video. (I even redid the sound from AVI to WMV after the movie didn’t work the first time I tried publishing it.) The final video is around forty-five minutes in length, but at the same shot EVERY time I publish it, the video freezes (at 38 seconds in). Ten seconds later, the audio fails as well. If I click ahead in the movie, I’ll find some places where they both work again for a bit, but thirty seconds later, they fail again.

When I’m editing the clips in WMM, the movie will play through fine. I don’t have any problems getting the clip previews to play, either. While it’s publishing, I don’t get any errors or anything that indicates something has gone wrong. The only way I’ve tried publishing it so far is to my computer; as I haven’t had any luck there, I don’t want to try publishing it to a DVD and then have it not work.

So far I’ve tried disabling the video codec filter and redoing the audio but, other than that, I just don’t know what to try to make this video work. Various (probably unnecessary) details: I used FormatFactory to convert all files (from mpeg and AVI to WMV); I’m using WMM Version 6.0.6002.18005 (the version that came with Vista Home Premium).

Given all that, can anyone tell me either what I’m doing wrong or how to fix what the computer is doing wrong? I’ve read that WMM is unreliable when you start using it for longer movies. Would it work to break the movie up into several smaller sections? If so, how small would they have to be to publish correctly?

Lastly, if there is no real way to fix this and the problem arises because WMM just sucks, does anyone know of any free, reliable movie editing software available for download? (I’m a college student; I don’t have hundreds of dollars lying around to spend on something I do for fun.)

I appreciate ALL of your help! I’ve been working on this for a few days and it’s frustrating being so close and yet so far to having a working movie. 10 pts to the first answer that can solve my problem!
@Kris: Windows Movie Maker runs fine; I’ve looked at the update to 2.6 and it indicates that it should only be downloaded if WMM will not start or run with Vista.

@Caloline: I’ve got a program to create DVDs; it’s making the movie file itself that’s the issue. Can this program be used for editing video and audio as well as DVD burning?

mariok answers:

I recommend updating to the latest WMM, Version 2.6:

http://www.brothersoft.com/windows-movie-maker-67210.html

Click Download and then click the first download link labeled “Official Site” – that links directly to Microsoft’s servers.

Lizzie asks…

Do you have any suggestions on what camcorder I should buy?

I’m looking to start doing some youtube videos. What I want is a live action scenes, then cuts to a flash animation. (Like a host segment -then a movie). I have flash,Adobe Premier Elements 7, and the free copy of windows movie maker that came with my computer.

My computer is running Vista Home 32 bit. Intel(R) Core(TM0 2 2.20Ghz with a Memory 3.00GB
(not the best for video editing, I know-but I bought it before I knew I was going to try something like this)

Anyway, I’m looking now to buy a camcorder for the live action parts. Factors I’m looking at/for
1. Either SD card, or something I can plug into my computer. I don’t want to have to buy tapes or DVDs constantly.
2. Cost: Under $300 if possible.
3. Filming will most likely be done inside-but outside shots if necessary

If you have suggestions for camcorders or anything else I should be thinking about I’d love to hear them.

mariok answers:

The Flip HD cameras that have came out recently might be your best bet. The best way to really find a camcorder is to go on Bestbuy.com and just use the left side tab to find what you’re looking for. Then look up the camcorder model on YouTube and see the test footage it has

Your Questions About Car Window Film

January 6th, 2012

Lizzie asks…

I’m looking for the music video in which everything outside moves along the camera on the rhythm of the music?

A few years ago I saw a music video which looked like it was filmed from a car or a train through a window. Everything outside (cables, chimneys, buildings and trees) moved along the camera on the rhythm of the music. I’m looking for that video, and the band who made the music. Thanks in advance!

Linda asks…

What can keep a Video Camera ‘still’ in a moving car?

Every time we travel I always bring my hand-held camcorder with me so I can get beautiful shots of nature or events– And sometimes I like to film while the car is moving at a slow or fast pace.

Of course, it seems that the minute I pull out my camera, bumps in the road come along and always causes my camera to rapidly shake and I often miss some important scenery or object.

It’s been a little frustrating whenever I try to edit my videos, because there were some perfect shots but then it shakes because of bumps or hills on the road.

I’ve tried anchoring my arm against the window or holding it down with my other hand, but that hasn’t worked out.

I was wondering if there was some sort of device or equipment that could firmly hold it in place and possibly reduce the shakes whenever bumps come along???
Because that’d be great!

Please help!! :D

Not sure if it helps, but my Camera is a Sumsung camcorder:

http://www.techgadgets.in/images/samsung-sc-mx20-camcorder.jpg

And please don’t tell me to stop filming while driving, because that’s the most fun part!

mariok answers:

Mount the camcorder to something – do not capture video when hand-held.

I put a tripod on the floor of the front passenger seat and position the seat so it locks the tripod legs in place. The problem with that (presuming you don’t have a passenger there) is turning the camera recording on and off when you want. My camcorders have a LANC (wired remote control). Yours does not. You can try using the wireless infrared remote that came with your camcorder but they usually need line-of-sight to the front of the camcorder which you may not have. In my situation, because the camera is tripod mounted, I can pan and tilt easily because of the tripod handle control so seeing forward and to the sides works well.

Another option is to get a clamp device that can use the headset post as the mount. Since we don’t know what vehicle you are driving, we don’t know if this is possible. If you can do this, the camcorder will be in a better position to see the infrared remote – when the camcorder is aimed out the front windshield. The potential drawback to this is the camcorder location may be blocked by the rear-view mirror or the fron-winshield/roof pillars and side views will be limited.

ALWAYS remember, please…. Safety first. It is one thing for you to do something stupid and injure yourself – please do not involve others. Driving while distracted – for whatever reason – is against the law. The distraction could be anything that takes your attention from your primary job of driving safely.

Lisa asks…

Anyone got any ideas about cleaning brick dust off windows?

We’d been away for a week or so and when we came back saw an overflow had been dripping, splattering the brick window sill which in turn seems to have thrown a film of dust particles over the glass – and the dust seems now to be welded in place. I’ve tried cleaning it off with standard window cleaning spray, with floor cleaner, car windscreen wash and even tried using a steamer all with little effect.
Anyone got any bright ideas?
Thanks

mariok answers:

Scrape the particles with a thin flat blade with handle while applying a little moisture with a rag. After you done scraping, use Windex or similar glass cleaner to finish cleaning. Good luck…!

Mary asks…

Cant get my windows to stay clean?

My car was in a garage for 16 years, I clean the windows but a film keeps reappearing on the inside. I have scrubbed them good but it keeps coming back. It looks like a smoke haze. Any suggestions?
Not losing coolant, And a 69 firebird has nowhere to hook up a diagnostic machine.

mariok answers:

The film on the inside of your windows is caused by Plasticizers in the interior of your car. When you leave your car closed up in the heat ,the vinyl interior “sweats” this element adheres to the glass . I dont know of anything except constant cleaning that will keep it off’. The age of your car almost eliminates a clogged cabin filter problem. A good vinyl dressing like armour all can reduce but not eliminate this problem.

George asks…

can anyone help me remember the name of this film?….?

can anyone help me remember this film I was watching ages ago? It is about a girl who has fits in her sleep, and seems to get burn marks in her sleep from windows, and she keeps screaming. her parents don’t know what to do with her. then they take her to a hypnotist, who makes her fall under a trance and she remembers when she was an ‘other’ little girl who died in a car crash…….

weird film

mariok answers:

It might be Audrey Rose (1977).

Daniel asks…

can you name this film? (i think it was from the early 80′s)?

The movie had a guy in a “super car ” that when selected a protective shield/metal sheet that came up over the front of the car and windscreen which had a couple of slits so he could see out

Also he was being chased at times by a group of several black Porsche’s (i think they were 911’s) and in one scene in the film the people from an Italian village all ran into their homes shutting their doors and windows shortly before the cars arrived

i think the film was made in the early 80’s……i’m slowly starting to go mad trying to think of the name lol

William asks…

Need that film name, with your help?

Hi. This film (in my opinion) is great.

I’ve watched it on TV, and I forgot the name of it. I need to download it as a Torrent. But, I just request the film name, and I’ll be pleased for that.

What I remember in this film:

“People were sheltering in a Market store. There was a lot of FOG outdoors, and no-one can see through it. Anyone goes out there, gets attacked by monsters. Monsters have something like tails, and they drag the victim. They eat him indeed. There was an evil woman who threw an officer, of the Armed forces, I guess, after he told them that the scientists were having experience where they were trying to build a window to the other world (The death world). The experience failed, and blah blah…

At the end of the movie, the hero of that film went to his car with his child and 3 persons. He had limited bullets in his gun, and he killed them. Afterward, the army forces came, and he cried for killing them without reasons.

He killed them to defend them from those monsters. Killing with bullets is better than getting eaten by a monster.”

Hope you get that film! :)

“The Mist” (2007) starring Thomas Jane and Marcia Gay Harden

Charles asks…

what is the worst film flubbed movie you have seen?

Twister and Wizard of Oz are two that have them.

In Twister in the “flying cow” scene in the background you can see out the back window and you can see cars going by and daylight. The front view is a one lane dirt road and in the background you see a highway. Also the one torando can pick up a loaded semitruck with fuel inside yet it leaves their pick-up alone.

Wizard of Oz you can see the trap door the witch goes in and out of in various scenes. Also I know it is an older movie but the backdrops look too fake. Also if you pay attention to Dorothy’s hair it will go from above chest length to below chest length back to above chest length.

Can you think of other movies that have flubs in them and what are they?
I am not asking what is the worst movie you seen. I am asking the movies that have the most mistakes that are noticable in them.

mariok answers:

If you look closely, there are many flubs in “Spartacus”

In one scene, there is a roman centurion wearing tube socks
In another is a gladiator wearing a wriswatch

Also, in “Lawrence of Arabia” in one desert scene, you can see the dressing room trailers on the horizon

In “Commando”, there is a chase scene between a yellow porsche and a sunbeam in a chase. The porsche gets wrecked up one side and is turned over….the next scene where ahnold gets in and drives away, the car is pristeen.
