You’re going to put all that crap into a 1995 Acura? Someone will just steal the car and clean it all out and leave you with a heap of metal and your insurance isn’t going to give you anything for all that stuff you put into it.

William asks…
i have no idea where to start?
i recently bought my first car and i plan on customizing it bit-by-bit. i think that im going to start with a stereo, then get the windows tinted darker, (maybe) black rims and then a spoiler (just a small one- the factory kind.)
ok, im starting with the stereo. i have NO IDEA of what to get. i want something that has some power but my car is small so i don’t want to over do it.
could you lead me in the right direction.
(in terms of the actual stereo, the speakers, amp, subs, etc.)
btw, its a 2005 civic coupe. it looks like this:

here are the spoiler and rims i plan on getting:

well how many watts does the steroe and amp need to be?
what about speakers?
sub woofers?
im so confused!
mariok answers:
Your driving a nice car, so if your going to put after marker stuff in it why not spend a little more money and do it right. Pioneer dont get me wrong is alright, but dont always look for the cheapest best deal if you want true quality, like anything in life, clothes, cars, houses quality come with a price, i would recommened if you going bit by bit to start with the head unit of the stereo, I have owned a kenwood, blaunplunkt and today i just had an eclipse deck installed, its amazing looks great with great features keep in mind what you want the deck to do, mine has ipod cord which was a need, nice display and 8v preouts to my amp. As well keep in mind what you plan on doing to the stereo in the future if you want amps installed you need preouts, so on.
First thing is first, find a deck you want that does what you want it to do!
My deck was 700 without install, but thats because its featured to what i need, you could get away with aabout 450 for a nice deck that has the preouts and ipod ready and all that jazz

Monte Carlo OR Eclipse?
Alright, I’m planning on buying a used car this weekend. I have narrowed it down to two main considerations:
2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
&
1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder
They both cost about the same so the price doesn’t really matter, and they both have the same number of miles, 100k.
MONTE CARLO:
….It has a salvage title. The guy who is selling it (not from dealer) owns a Auto Repair shop and he has now fixed it back to new condition. (Im only going by his word, i’ve yet to see it). This is his exact statement:
“This car is in excellent overall condition. Silver exterior with black leather interior. Fully loaded. Power seats. Rear spoiler. CD. Automatic. 100K miles. Smogged. Registered. Ice cold A/C. Tires are in great shape. Tinted windows. Power sunroof. Will take best offer. This car does have a salvage/rebuilt title due to a fender bender in the right front. It was repaired beautifully by a professional body shop. Suspension parts were replaced by A-1 Auto Repair, and it got a brand new rim. The alignment came out perfect. It has had all factory quality repairs and it runs, drives, and functions like new. All of the damage has been completely repaired. Smog, brake, and lamp inspections are done and registered with DMV”
The car looks great. Here are a few pictures:
MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE
…..I dont know that much about this car. I’ve only seen it on the Used Dealer’s website. It’s a Convertible (which i would rather it not be, but its not something i’d consider as a noticeable con)
Air Conditioning,Alloy Wheels,AM/FM Stereo,Cruise Control,Dual Front Air Bags,Multi Compact Disc,Power Door Locks,Power Steering,Power Windows,Rear Spoiler,Tilt Wheel
Here are some pics:
I would just like to know which one you would pick and why.
Can a salvage title be trusted? Does insurance cost a lot more for one? Is one of the models not trustworthy after 100k miles?
Thanks.
hmmm……
mariok answers:
Im saying the eclipse wins by default. Dont ever buy a salvaged title. Its not a good idea. How do you know its been repaired properly? They might of only repaired the things to make it road legal. Salvage title is out of the question. Get the eclipse.

Sandra asks…
How much should I ask for my 2008 BMW 650 when selling (Not in KBB!)?
I am getting ready to sell my 2008 BMW 650 and I’m not sure where I should start my asking price at. For some reason they don’t have the 2008 models on Kelley Blue Book.
I bought the car brand new for $82,000, and I know I can get at least $60,000 out of it, but I was just wondering if I could get a little more. I’ve done a little research for used cars for sale in my area, and there is not a single ’08 650 for sale–not in the paper, Auto Trader or even Craigslist, so I guess I have the advantage here.
Here’s a little more about it…
-20,000 miles (15 months of ownership, 1 driver–F, 25)
-Sport Package (19″ M6 wheels)
-Black w/ black leather
-Tinted windows
-Automatic transmission w/ sport & manual options, including paddle shifters
-Equipped with Sirius & ipod hookup
The car is obviously in excellent overall condition inside and out. So I’m basically just looking for the highest (reasonable) price I should start it at.
Thanks!
mariok answers:
Anywhere between $60,000-$75000 would be acceptable.
Susan asks…
Is the Ford Excursion worth it?
I need to know if I should get this, if it’s a good price for so many miles (it was first stickered for around 50k when it came out). It’s a 2005 diesel 6.0L V8 Ford Excursion limited (the most loaded out package) with these features:
AM/FM, Adjustable Pedals, Adjustable Steering Wheel, Air Conditioning, Anti-lock Brakes, Auto -dimming Mirror, Automatic Headlights, CD (Multi Disc), Child Safety Locks, Compass, Cruise Control, DVD, Fog Lights, Front Airbags (Dual), Front and Rear Stabilizer Bar, Full Size Spare Tire, Heated Mirrors, Heated Seats, Intermittent Wipers, Keyless Entry, Leather Interior, Leather Steering Wheel, Power Locks, Power Mirrors, Power Seat (Dual), Power Steering, Power Windows, Premium Wheels, Privacy Glass, Reading Lights, Rear Window Defroster, Rear Window Wiper, Roof Rack, Running Boards, Seat Memory, Steering Wheel Controls, Tachometer, Thermometer, Third Row Seating, Tinted Windows, Towing Package, Trailer Hitch, Trip Computer, Vanity Mirror/Light
I know it only gets 13-20 mpg, somewhere in there and it has a 44 gallon tank which will cost 160 to fill up from empty. The price on it now is $23,995 and it has 81,819 miles. It’s is in perfect condition from what I can tell and runs great. Is it worth it? Has it lived it’s time or is there a lot left in it? How long do these Powerstrokes usually last? Anything else you want to say? Fell free to give me any extra info. Thanks!
mariok answers:
I have heard that can last up to 300k miles, they typically dont last as long as fords older powerstroke the 7.3, but as long as you keep up the Maintenance (oil changes, flush the coolant every 50k miles) it should be fine.
The 6.0 are a short stroke high compression engine, which is good for acceleration & maintaining speeds.
The 6.0 powerstroke dosent like modifications it has weak head studs, but as long as you keep it in stock form you wont have a problem with them.

Buying a 2000 Mercedes C230?
Im trying to buy this Mercedes from Craiglist but im not sure if its too good to be true. I want to have some people check it out for me before I get my hopes up .Also I think that the price is too low for such a nice car, I have seen several pictures of the inside and out and under the hood. I have talked to the owner and he seems pretty legit.
Heres what the owner is saying about it:
UP 4SALE IS A 2000 SILVER MERCEDES C230 SPORT , AUTO TRANS. FWD DRIVETRAIN , 4CYL. THIS IS A VERY LUXURY CAR WITH A LOT OF POWER IT RUNS VERY WELL , GOOD GAS MILEAGE, THE INTERIOR IS 2TONE GREY AND BLACK , LEATHER SEATS, WITH HEATED SEATS, POWERED SUN ROOF, TINTED WINDOWS, VERY CLEAN, NO OIL LEAKS NO SMOKING UP TO DATE OIL CHANGED NICE TIRES HIGH HIGHWAY MILES 193000 STILL RUNS GREAT. $4500CASH FIRM
mariok answers:
Sounds legit, as that is a ton of miles.
I wouldn’t just automatically trust that the vehicle is perfect, though. These vehicles cost a lot to fix/maintain and your $4500 ‘deal’ could turn into a $7500 nightmare within a few months.
Test-drive the vehicle and take it to your mechanic to make sure it is a good vehicle.

” FWD DRIVETRAIN”
All W202 chassis (’94-’00 C-Class) are rear wheel drive, not front wheel drive (FWD).
The price is not too low considering the mileage. If you’re interested in it, go check it out. As I would advise with any used vehicle purchase, have the car inspected by a dealer or other trusted shop of YOUR choosing prior to finalizing the sale. You don’t want to be stuck with another person’s problems.
