I am trying to find out if there is a product available to tint existing skylights. I work in an office with many, many skylights that line the entire ceiling and the glare is killing us. we are looking into options for window tint. Does anyone know of any product that can be painted on that would still give a translucent, tinted look? Or is the tinted film the only option? Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

There are many window film product solutions for skylights. It would be helpful to know if your skylights are glass or made out of a polycarbonate material like Lexan? For your question let’s assume it’s made of glass.
You can install a highly reflective film like 20 Silver- CP Films -LLumar has this type of film as do almost all film manufacturers. This will knock down the glare and heat. Check http://www.vista-films.com for a local dealer You can also have a translucent film opaque for example installed for more diffused light. If the skylight is polycarbonate- a vinyl version of this film is available.
The next question is access to the glass. If ladders or scaffolding is required the labor cost would be higher. I’d stick with a film since the pain will heat up and eventually fail. The window films are warranted for a decade or more and they also will cut your cooling costs and 99.9 % of UVA and UVB which have been linked to skin cancer issues.

How do you clean tinted commercial windows?
I clean commercial windows for a living but have run into a problem. The building that I am working on has tinted windows and they are streaking and have hard water stains. How and what would you use on these windows to clean them without streaking them?

Try using distilled water with a few drops of Johnsons Baby shampoo per gallon of warm water. Your water may have too many minerals (hard) use a clean squeegee.

How much is the fine for tinted front vehicle windows?
I live in California and received a “fix it” ticket for tinted front windows. I was wondering, if I don’t remove it and just pay the fine, how much will it be and will it go on my driving record?
No, I don’t want to remove it because it’s high grade commercial tint that I spent a lot of money for. It’s a flawless job and it keeps my car extremely cool.

Aircraft window tint designs?
In some commercial aircraft I have been in, there was a rotational dial under the windows. When you rotate the dial, a series of meshes in the window would cross over each other to create a shaded window you could have at your desired level of protection. Does anyone know what to call these or where to find the design?

These may be polarized windows. Typically, as one layer of the polarized material is rotated relative to the other, light decreases until the window is almost black. I’ve included a link to a company dealing in polarized window upgrades for corporate aircraft.

What Do you think will happen in court?
I got served today. I used to work for a commercial and residential window tinting company in San Antonio, TX. They fired me because the owners wife did not get along with me, instead of focusing on business, they gave me crap all the time. well i signed a non-compete agreement. After I was fired I went to a competitor and they hired me. They found out and Now they are suing me……I think it ridiculous!!!! San Antonio is Huge and besides I feel the reason they fired me for (a bipolar wife) is very unfair. Should I counter sue. Im lost. PLEASE HELP ME OUT.

are aftermarket stickers on the side on a car illegal in ny?
i was pulled over yesterday for my blitz exhaust and my tinted windows. i was let off with just a loud exhuast fix it ticket. and then he handed me the ticket and said were giving u a break on the windows and stickers. i just heard its illegal to have side stickers and logos with out a licence plate for commercial use or whatever. something about the state wants to tax the person for advertising? is this true?

According to the uniform vechile code you can have stickers on your car, but not on the windhield or rear window. If you read further thet don’t want them on side windows either unless (technical reading) they pass 70% light. This is for all vechiles without commercial regs.
EDIT: The state is hypocritacal on this because they want the Empire Passport sticker displayed on either the drivers or passengers (left side) windows
