So let me give some of the tips given by the most affordable and appropriate window film for our home window tinting needs, the Huper Optik nanotechnology home window film.

1. Review product specifications and cross check them with the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC): an independent rating authority that is not affiliated with any window film manufacturer or distributor. Examples of product specifications include: Visible Light Transmission, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient, and Glare Reduction.

2. Determine what solutions you want home window tinting film to provide. Do you need to reduce fading and glare? Do you need to save energy, or look at a less expensive option than glass replacement? Be candid about your expectations, so the company you choose can exceed them.

3. Use social media as a resource, while you research products online. What can you find out about the product or company in the blogosphere? A great deal, both positive and negative, but this is all part of determining the best window film choice for you.

Why Home Window Tinting is so Important

Monday, July 4th, 2011

Everybody is aware of the global climate change which is also popularly known as the Global Warming. The climate expert coined the term global warming as the condition of our climate that tends to increase the temperature of the earth’s crust beyond the normal temperature of 29 to 30 degree Celsius. According to NASA our earth’s temperature is increasing every year; and without doubt this present generation has noticed that the heat of the Sun is no longer the same a decade ago if you compare the heat of the sun from 9: 00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and because of this, the concept of home window tinting has also dramatically change, from just a mere purpose of window glass customization to heat reduction.

A few years ago window tinting was generally applied to vehicles for protection from heat of the sun while traveling as well for the purpose of keeping the privacy of the riders especially the dignitaries and high ranking official of the government. But with the advent of global climate change window tinting has now already a wide application such as but not limited to home window tinting and commercial window tinting to building and large establishment in order to reduce heat accumulation inside the building.

Window tint films are now used to deflect direct ultraviolet rays of the sun which is perhaps the most vital benefit of window tinting. Based on study a window film that has a good quality can successfully reject approximately 90% of the harmful UV rays from the sun.

Even if we are inside our home but the sun rays directly penetrates inside our homes then the harmful UV rays can still affect our skin that leads to dryness and premature aging, itching and the possibility of getting skin cancer.

Aside from the damage to our health, the UV rays of the sun can even damage your home fixtures and furniture since it will cause the fading of colors. It’s not only furniture but also the electronic appliances will be damaged by the heat causing the printed circuit board to melt that result into unknown disconnection of circuits.

This coming summer you need to consider saving electric power consumption from your air condition by applying home window tinting in order to make your home cooler with less air condition cost.

Home Window Tinting to Avoid Fading of Furnishings

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

Home Furnishings are important investments in our homes. As much as possible we want to preserve everything since we can’t afford that our hard earn money that we invested on our home furnishings will just be damaged easily by any internal or external factor. Perhaps there is not much internal factor that we could think but precisely there is external that contribute much to the fading of our home furnishings, and that is the UV rays from the sun. Because of this home furnishing fading issue that is basically caused by UV rays from the sun, home window tinting has become a necessity to every household not just in U.S. but all around the world. The sun is the number one cause of fading of furnitures and furnishings in our homes.

In a study done by the glazing industry much emphasis has been given on the Ultraviolet transmission of glass relative to the glazing capability to reduce the fading damage in home furnishings. Although UV is considered as the major cause of fading of most home interior furnishings and fabrics, other factors such as temperature and humidity play significant roles.

Fading of Home Furnishings is basically due to chemical reaction or degradation of the organic of organic molecules that make up the color pigments as well as dyes in these materials. This degradation process is affected by the factors mention above (temperature, humidity and sun UV rays). While each of these three factors are known to influence the degradation rate of organic molecules, the majority of fading results from the absorption of sunlight passing through windows and doors. The spectral region which results in fading is 300nm to 600nm (nanometer). These wavelengths cover both the ultraviolet region as well as the majority of visible light reaching the earths’ surface.

So the question is how can we prevent our furnishings from fading? There are two methods that we can do this which of course by positioning or arranging it so that it will be directly hit by the sun rays and by application of protection in our window glass by installing window films for our home window tinting .

Believe it or not home window tinting is no longer optional today but a necessary home improvement and security that is greatly needed in our homes, because aside from protecting our furnishings from fading home window tinting can even provide privacy and security in our homes since window tints can minimize the visibility of our home interiors from the outside viewers.

Practical Benefits of Home Window Tinting

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Some of us may have thought that home window tinting is basically intended for car since almost all cars running in our highways are having a tinted window and seldom or never did we ask if we could the same in our home glass window. We can precisely do more than the tinting that is being installed in cars because unlike cars there is no law regulating the blackness of the tint in our home glass windows.

If you have a glass window that is not yet installed with window tint films then you are not yet taking advantage the technology of window films for your home and for your family in general.

These home window tinting films are not ordinary films that are just installed just for the sake of customizing. But these films are especial film that gives the following basic benefits:

  • Home window tint prevents the heat of the sun from penetrating inside your house
  • Since it prevents the heat of the sun it consequently reduces your air conditioning cost during summer months and the films out there can lower the temperature coming into your home by up to 15 degrees.
  • With home window tinting you can watch the surrounding of your house during day time without your eyes being stressed by the daylight our tint can significantly reduce the glare from the sun.

  • Since the heat of the sun cannot penetrate inside then you are also preserving the look of your home furniture, carpet, wood work and art work since it will not get faded from the direct heat of the sun.

These are just few of the practical implications that you will experience once you have your home window installed with window films.

Summer time is coming and you should prepare your home for the hot summer because you may not enjoy your summer time at home while doing personal things or doing summer project at home or working on some online staff with your friends or having a family summer affairs at home. This is a call especially for parents in order to make the summer time of their children enjoyable and memorable.

Home window tinting can help you reduce the costs of electricity dramatically some of the best films on the market have a two and a half year return on investment and will save money from that point on, this is the reason window tint has become so popular to houses and commercial properties.

2011 Home Window Tinting Tax Credit

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Perhaps you have heard of tax credit and some of us have already benefited from it, but unfortunately some have not grab the opportunity of tax credit. Tax Credit is different from tax deduction. A tax credit is more valuable than a tax deduction. Tax credits directly reduce your income tax, unlike a deduction, which reduces the amount of income subject to tax. The credit then directly increases the tax refund you receive or decreases the amount you have to pay.

The 2009 and 2010 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act reinstated federal tax cuts for consumers who make certain energy-efficient improvements to their home; which was equivalent to 30% of the window film cost or up to $1,500, but that was the 2009.

Now the 2011 tax credit for home window tinting investment by a home owner is now set to a new rate of 10% of cost or up to $500, excluding installation cost. This tax credit is applicable only the existing residential house and not to newly constructed houses or for rentals.

As you can see the tax credits have been greatly reduced and this is not only of window film product but for many products as well.  Will that mean that less people go out to buy these energy efficient home products. I would say that this change really reduced the effectiveness and the reason for the credit.  Why even have it if it doesn’t have a stimulus effect?

Bad According to Donna Shirey, the president of a Seattle contracting firm, that the net effect of all this is a big step backward, bad for the environment, bad for consumers, and most importantly bad for jobs in our country since there will be less investment on energy efficient products and services.

Well, we can do nothing about it. But all we have to do as a consumer is better to take advantage of it than nothing. If you are a home owner and want to make some improvement this year, then here is how you can take advantage of the tax credit:

  1. Make a copy of the dealer invoice/receipt (make sure it states the film type and has the material cost itemized)
  2. Fill out the 2011 Form 5695. Window film is referred to as an “insulation material or system specifically and primarily designed to reduce the heat loss or gain of your home” so the film cost should be put on this line (2A).
  3. The total from Form 5695 should be claimed on your Form 1040, line 52.
  4. Send the copies of the certification letter and dealer receipt in with your Form 5695 when you file your taxes.

The Relevance of Window Film and Tinting on Health Issues

Monday, June 27th, 2011

For some of us we just consider window tinting as sort of customizing and modifying our car or home windows according to our own style and perhaps because everybody is having their window tinted that we imitate them without really understanding the purpose and benefits behind window tinting.

In today’s generation that we are having problem with global temperature due to the increasing heat of the sun, window tinting is no longer an expense but already a part of our investment, no longer discretionary but necessary. If you are working in the field of commerce and industry you would perhaps disagree with me saying that tinting our home or car window is already considered nowadays as investment because it contradicts to the definition investment in the business realm. Now let me explain why window tinting is no longer discretionary but necessary.

According to Hughston Health Alert that there are between 175 and 1250 heat death each year in the United States; and the tragic thing is that lack of knowledge on how and when injuries occur and how they are treated is one of the main factors of most these deaths. As human being we are naturally warm blooded and sweating is our natural way of cooling, but stagnant humid air makes the cooling (sweating) become less effective.

According to Global Warming News our sun emits harmful radiation that is absorbed by the atmosphere. Now the Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR) causes more problems to this generation due to the intense heat from the Sun. UVR levels are highest especially during summer months and particularly from 9:00a a.m and 3:00 p.m. Because of the intense heat of the sun everyone can be in anytime experience heating up of our body that is beyond the capacity of our cooling system.

In this days, even if we are inside our homes, we may even feel the heat and warm of the sun even during night time due to the humid air that has become stagnant inside our homes; and the best we can do about it is to prevent the heat of the sun from entering our homes that penetrates through our windows.

In order to prevent the penetration of the heat of the sun a window film is needed to be installed in our homes and this film will help prevent the heat from absorbing inside our house and it makes our vision clear from the inside. With your home window tinting film and tints you can be assure that you and your family is far from the health risk brought by the intense heat of the sun.

2. More privacy and security. In the same manner when you hardly see who’s inside a car with tinted windows, window-tinted homes also provide the same privacy needed by home owners who don’t need to worry about nosy neighbors peeking through the window.

3. Protection from UV. UV rays tend to make fading faster in house paint, artwork, furniture, curtains, carpets, wood floors and other furnishings in the house. With tinted windows that block off the UV rays, all your precious belongings stay as good as new and as vibrant from the day it set foot in your house.
